Molecular sieve desiccants are a synthetic porous aluminosilicate crystal material. They selectively adsorb molecules of a specific size (especially water molecules) through its uniform microporous structure (pore size 3-10Å). Their core features include:

 

1. Super Strong Moisture Absorption Capacity: In a low humidity environment (RH<10%), it can still efficiently absorb moisture. The moisture absorption can reach 20%-25% of its own weight.

2. Precise Selectivity: By adjusting the pore size (such as 3A, 4A, 5A types), it can specifically adsorb water, gas or organic molecules.

3. High Temperature Stability: temperature resistance up to 400-600℃. It is suitable for deep cold, vacuum or high temperature regeneration environment.

4. Chemical Inertness: non-toxic and non-corrosive. It is widely used in petrochemical, electronics, medicine and other fields.

 

Compared with physical adsorption desiccants such as montmorillonite, molecular sieve desiccants perform better under extreme dry conditions, but the cost is higher.

 

Types

 

Our molecular sieve desiccants are classified into four main types based on pore size and chemical composition:3A (3Å), 4A (4Å), 5A (5Å), and 13X (10Å). Each type has specific adsorption properties:

 

(1) 3A: It adsorbs only water (H₂O), ideal for drying unsaturated hydrocarbons (e.g., ethylene) and refrigerants.

(2) 4A: It captures H₂O and small molecules like CO₂, widely used in compressed air systems, pharmaceuticals, and electronics.

(3) 5A: It adsorbs linear hydrocarbons (n-alkanes). It is applied in petroleum refining, natural gas purification, and gas separation (PSA).

(4) 13X: It removes larger molecules (e.g., CO₂, H₂S, VOCs), suitable for industrial gas purification and medical oxygen production.

 

Additionally, specialized types like Y-type sieves(catalysis) and carbon molecular sieves (nitrogen generation) serve niche applications. Their high thermal stability (up to 350°C) and regenerability make them superior for precision drying and gas separation.
