Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor. The Corrosion Inhibitor formula works through a method of polar bonding whereby once your goods are sealed in the enclosed space the molecules create a kind of ‘mini atmosphere’ that attach to the surface of your metal product.
This then protects the goods into the long term from the all the usual corrosion culprits. Including Air, Water, Dust, Acids and perspiration.
Corrosion Inhibitors are available in differing formats and deliveries. Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) based flexible packaging with ‘built in’ VCI is the most popular choice, particularly for goods that are to be transported, exported or stored for an extended period of time.
VCI Film has some key advantages in that the LDPE plastic does provide a low to moderate moisture barrier. In addition to corrosion inhibitor protection, it is also very easy to use and provides better protection from environmental contaminants like dust and polluted air.
Like all VCI products film offers additional benefits in that parts do not need to pretreated or cleansed of oil and wax with degreasers or solvents. This ‘value equation’ can result in significant cost savings for the user.
